Picture this: You unzip your tent at Fisherman's Camp to see the sun spilling gold across the shores of Lake Naivasha Kenya. The air is thick with the chatter of weaver birds in the acacia trees, and a troop of black-and-white colobus monkeys leaps through the canopy above your camp. Nearby, mischievous vervet monkeys eye your breakfast leftovers - we'll show you how to outsmart these clever little thieves!

This experience invites you to fall asleep to the deep, rhythmic grunting of hippos and wake up to kingfishers diving for fish. Here, time actually dissolves. There is no rush and no crowds - just you, the steady rhythms of the Great Rift Valley, and the freedom to finally get some dirt on your boots and clear your head.
Your base is Fisherman's Camp - right on the water's edge. Think crackling bonfires, tents pitched under ancient fever trees, and nights where the Milky Way feels close enough to touch. It's here that your time at Lake Naivasha Kenya truly comes alive: swapping stories over a grilled dinner, listening to the lake splash against the shore, and waking up to the first light hitting the water. You'll feel miles away from the daily grind.
Day 1: Cycling, Gorges & Volcanic Whispers
After settling into your lakeside tent, we'll bike into Hell's Gate National Park - a landscape of red sandstone cliffs and wide-open plains. Pedal past herds of zebras and gazelles before reaching Fischer's Tower, a massive volcanic pillar sculpted over millions of years. Then, we'll hike into the Ol Njorowa Gorge, following a trail carved through obsidian lava walls. We'll head back to camp as the hippos begin to emerge from the water for the evening - their heavy splashes mingling with the crackle of our first campfire dinner.
Day 2: Walking With Giants on Crescent Island
At dawn, we head out by boat, watching African fish eagles hunt for tilapia. This freshwater oasis, known to many as the jewel of Lake Naivasha Kenya, hosts over 1,500 hippos! We'll land on Crescent Island, a sunken volcanic crater where wildlife roams free without any predators. It's a rare chance to walk right alongside Masai giraffes, zebras, and waterbuck. Back at camp, we'll relax over lunch while vervet monkeys chatter in the branches above.

Day 3: Conquer Mt Longonot - The Dormant Sentinel
Today is for the hike up Mount Longonot, a dormant volcano whose Maasai name means "mountain of many steep ridges." We’ll trek through cedar forests filled with sunbirds, eventually reaching the rim of the 7.2km-wide caldera. From the summit, the Great Rift Valley unfurls in every direction - look out over patchwork farms, glittering lakes, and distant hills. We take our time at the top to soak in the view before heading back down to camp for cold drinks. A trip to Lake Naivasha Kenya stays with you long after you leave.
Day 4: Sunrise Paddles on Lake Naivasha Kenya
One last magic hour: we'll take kayaks out at sunrise as the water turns gold. We'll paddle past the water lilies, watching kingfishers hover and dive, while giving the hippo pods plenty of space. Back on shore, share a final breakfast with the lake's reflection shimmering in your coffee. Packing up is always bittersweet, but you'll carry the stillness of Lake Naivasha Kenya back home with you.

Authentic feedback from our guests
“Did this last month with my sister. The sunrise kayak on day four was the highlight. We saw a hippo about thirty metres away and the guide just calmly paddled us in a wide arc around it. No drama. Camp food at Fisherman's was better than I expected, lots of fresh veg and proper coffee in the morning.
“Booked this as a solo and ended up sharing camp with a lovely couple from Belgium. Felt safe the whole time. The kayaking on the last morning was the bit I was nervous about because I'm not a strong swimmer but they gave us proper life vests and stayed close. Saw fish eagles diving for breakfast.
“Loved the variety. Each day felt different. Mount Longonot is no joke though, that 7.2km crater rim trail had me questioning my life choices about halfway round. Made it and felt like a champion afterwards. The chapati at camp was top tier.
“The biking through Hell's Gate on day one is what sold me on this trip and it didn't disappoint. Zebras crossing the path, warthogs running off, the whole thing feels like Jurassic Park. The Ol Njorowa Gorge afterwards was the bonus, narrow walls and steam vents.
“Vier Tage, ein Camp am See, kein Stress. Hell's Gate auf dem Fahrrad am ersten Tag war für mich das Beste. Die Schlucht Ol Njorowa erinnerte mich an einen Western. Eric kennt jeden Vogel beim Namen, ehrlich. Empfehlung für alle die Kenia abseits der Massensafaris erleben wollen.
“Family of four with two teenagers and honestly I was worried they'd be on their phones the whole time. By day two they'd both abandoned their phones and were asking the guide about the geology of Hell's Gate. That's a win in my book. Tents were proper, sleeping bags warm. The Crescent Island walk where they walked among waterbuck was the moment that flipped them. The kids still talk about it.
